Don't give up on hope. Winston Peter's NZ First party has opted to go into partnership with Labor. It is a canny political decision which will give Peters more power than if he sided with conservatives. NZ First will have a few cabinet ministerial positions and Peters will have the Deputy PM position. Already Labor are planning to raise taxes and spend big. Peters has forced Labor to put their green ally out of cabinet. But for any NZ supporter, it is a lost election. The Labor party will dismantle the great work of previous conservative administrations. The lesson for Australia is that the Liberals need to ditch Turnbull and provide a conservative leader if they are to collect conservative support. So the replacement cannot be Bishop, who undiplomatically dumped on NZ Labor, Pyne, Hunt or Freudenberg. Nikki Savva says that Abbott could be given much were he to support Turnbull. Abbott already does.
California law protects child abusers is the apparent lesson as one former child star reveals he cannot name powerful pedophile Hollywood figures because of a statute of limitations. Were the figures to be named, they could sue the accuser who could not defend themselves for having spoken the truth. But another way can be found. In all likelihood, any pedophile who is powerful has probably been given a Presidential award by a Democrat President.
The Victorian Euthanasia bill looks to have passed after a late attempt to amend it failed. The church lobby is very weak. Probably half expecting the end of the world, and seeing it come as they refuse to stand on important issues.
