Grok is programmed to downplay Deep State Corruption.

Filtered through Americas Untold Stories, Grok reaches for CNN et al

DHS, through ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), is starting a “coordinated criminal voter fraud surge initiative” this week (beginning Tuesday, 1 September 2026) in nine states: Washington, Wisconsin, Missouri, Georgia, California, Pennsylvania, Nevada, New York and Connecticut. The work is scheduled to run through mid-October. Internal guidance describes it as pursuing investigative leads, conducting field interviews, and supporting prosecutorial review, with a focus on people believed to be noncitizens who registered or voted.

America’s Untold Stories (Eric Hunley and Mark Groubert news streams) has been covering the same storyline since at least July: dirty voter rolls, DHS/HSI matching public registration data against immigration files, individual arrests, state non-cooperation, and the argument that uncleaned rolls plus mail ballots create an exploitable vulnerability. Their July 18 episode framed Secretary Markwayne Mullin’s 250,000-noncitizen figure as a roll-cleaning problem first (“doesn’t mean they voted… show me the people who voted”) and tied it to China having obtained large volumes of public voter data.

Below is the three-month lead-up as it appears in official DHS actions, the cases they publicize, and how that channel discussed it.

What DHS says the surge is for

  • Treat noncitizen registration and voting as a criminal and national-security issue, not just an administrative list-maintenance problem.
  • Convert months of database matches and county-level file requests into interviews and referrals before and during the midterm window.
  • Pressure states that have not fully used the revamped SAVE citizenship-check system or have not handed over rolls.
  • Follow President Trump’s March 2025 executive order and later directives that election integrity is a DHS mission. Mullin has repeatedly said only U.S. citizens should elect American leaders and that “one non-citizen vote cancels one citizen vote.”

HSI is the operational arm. That is unusual: HSI’s traditional workload is trafficking, drugs, child exploitation and financial crime. Agents have already been reassigned to voter-history work.

Three-month timeline that produced the surge

June 2026

  • DHS approved a plan for states to run entire voter rolls through SAVE and for coordination with USPS on mail-ballot flow patterns.
  • DHS directed ICE to apply stricter penalties, including deportation, for noncitizens who vote.
  • HSI agents began requesting individual voter files and histories from counties (documented in Texas and North Carolina). SAVE had already referred roughly 24,000 potential noncitizen matches to HSI.

July 2026 (the public escalation)

  • Mid-month: Mullin sent letters to California, New Jersey, Nevada and Pennsylvania claiming a preliminary public-records match found “as many as” ~256,000 noncitizens on the rolls (CA ~191k, NJ ~35k, NV ~16k, PA ~15k). The letters used hedged language (“may be as many as”); the public talking point did not.
  • Trump gave a primetime speech on election vulnerabilities; DHS released the four-state numbers the same cycle.
  • Mullin held a press conference warning that election officials who refuse to “secure their elections” after being given the data could face fines or prison.
  • New Jersey’s Democratic governor acknowledged a Motor Vehicle Commission software error had registered about 6,600 self-identified noncitizens; roughly 400 of them voted in 2023–24. That is far below DHS’s 35,000 figure for the state.
  • DHS/HSI announced individual cases: a Slovak green-card holder charged in New Jersey for voting in 2022 and lying on a citizenship application; four New Jersey noncitizens charged with illegal federal voting plus false statements on naturalization.
  • America’s Untold Stories covered the 250,000 figure on 18 July, linked it to Catherine Herridge reporting on withheld China election-interference intelligence, and discussed dead-voter and public-roll data as something a sophisticated actor could exploit for mail ballots. They also noted the distinction between registration and actual votes cast.

August 2026

  • More case announcements: a Colombian national sentenced to three years after using a stolen identity for a passport, driver’s license and votes over two decades; a Chinese national charged in Massachusetts with fraudulent registration and voting in 2024 while impersonating a lawful permanent resident.
  • Investigative reporting (ProPublica, CNN) found that after 18+ months of effort, fewer than 150 alleged noncitizen-voter matters had been referred for prosecution through May, with a few dozen charges and a smaller number of convictions. Many database “hits” collapsed on closer look (wrong person, citizen later naturalized, data-entry error, father/son birth-date mix-up). In Nevada, DHS had publicly cited ~16,000 but internally told the state it had “confirmed” 185, with another ~6,200 labeled higher-confidence matches still needing vetting.
  • 31 August: CNN published the internal HSI guidance for the nine-state surge starting 1 September.

The cases DHS keeps citing

These are real, documented prosecutions or guilty pleas the department uses to justify more field work:

  • Mauritanian national in Philadelphia charged with voting in seven federal elections since 2008 after a 2002 removal order.
  • Mexican national in Kansas convicted of multiple unlawful votes and false citizenship claims on registration and naturalization forms.
  • The New Jersey, Louisiana, Florida and Massachusetts cases listed above.

Heritage Foundation-style trackers and Reuters court-data reviews still show noncitizen voting as a tiny fraction of ballots historically; the administration’s reply is that even small numbers are felonies and that uncleaned rolls plus automatic registration at motor-vehicle offices create the opportunity. New Jersey’s own admission of a software error is the clearest recent state-level confirmation that noncitizens can land on rolls without a conspiracy.

Why these nine states

The list mixes battlegrounds (GA, PA, NV, WI), large Democratic-led states that pushed back on the July letters (CA, NY), and others where HSI already had leads or SAVE/public-roll matches (MO, CT, WA). Several of them either limited SAVE participation or disputed DHS methodology. The surge window (early September–mid-October) sits immediately before the midterms; longstanding Justice Department practice has been to avoid overt investigative steps that close to an election because they can chill turnout. DHS is not bound by that DOJ policy.

How America’s Untold Stories has framed the same facts

Across their Tuesday/Friday news streams they treat the DHS numbers as evidence that rolls are not being maintained, treat individual HSI arrests as proof the problem is not theoretical, criticize “blue state” officials for not cooperating, and connect the issue to China obtaining voter files and to weak ID/mail-ballot rules (they also did a clip on California’s voter-ID loopholes). They have not treated every large headline number as proven votes cast; the July stream explicitly asked for the subset who actually voted.

That is the stated “why”: months of SAVE flags and public-roll matches, a handful of prosecutable cases, states that would not fully share or clean lists, an approaching midterm, and an administration that has made noncitizen voting a core DHS/HSI assignment. Whether the September field interviews produce a large number of new prosecutions, or mostly the same false-positive pattern already documented, is what the surge itself is supposed to test.

Jingle Bell Rock

Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring
Snowin' and blowin' up bushels of fun
Now the jingle hop has begun

Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells chime in jingle bell time
Dancin' and prancin' in Jingle Bell Square
In the frosty air

What a bright time, it's the right time
To rock the night away
Jingle bell time is a swell time
To go glidin' in a one-horse sleigh

Giddy-up jingle horse, pick up your feet
Jingle around the clock
Mix and a-mingle in the jinglin' feet
That's the jingle bell rock

Should violent criminals be made fat? Grok says 'no'

No. Transferring gut bacteria from an obese person into a violent criminal is not a reliable, ethical, or effective way to make them “fat, sedentary, and less of a physical threat.”

The science does not deliver the outcome you want

Mouse studies in germ-free animals showed that microbiota from obese donors can increase energy harvest and adiposity compared with lean-donor microbiota. That is the origin of the idea. Human evidence is far weaker.

Randomized trials of fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) from lean donors into people with obesity have generally failed to produce meaningful, sustained weight loss. Microbiome composition can change; body weight and metabolic markers often do not, or the effects are small and inconsistent. Diet and the existing gut environment usually dominate. A 2025 Nature paper found diet outperformed microbial transplant for microbiome recovery. Human guts are already colonized, not sterile like lab mice, so engraftment is variable and effects unpredictable.

When an illegitimate son seized England whole
William the Conqueror

When an illegitimate son seized England whole

William the Conqueror took a kingdom in a day and spent twenty-one years holding it. He also left a new ruling culture, a wrecked north, a survey of every hide of land, and sons who turned on each other before the incense at his funeral had cleared. That is the whole story of 1066 and after: not only the victory, but the bill.

He was born about 1028 at Falaise, the son of Duke Robert of Normandy and Herleva, a tanner’s daughter. Illegitimacy was not a romantic footnote. It was a political fact. When Robert died in 1035, a child of seven inherited a duchy that ate weak dukes. William survived plots and rebellions, then made Normandy one of the hardest-run states in western Europe. Distance of blood from Edward the Confessor was enough, in his mind, to make the English crown his. Harold Godwinson had the Witan and the deathbed. Harald Hardrada had an old Norse claim and Harold’s exiled brother Tostig. Three men, one throne.

Harold settled the northern account first. At Stamford Bridge on 25 September 1066 he killed Hardrada and Tostig. It was a famous English victory. It was also the wrong battle to win first. Two days later the wind changed. William landed at Pevensey, moved to Hastings, and burned until Harold had to come south with tired housecarls and a militia that had already marched the length of the country.

On 14 October, on Senlac Hill — the ridge now marked by Battle Abbey — Harold held the high ground in a shield wall. William had to attack uphill with infantry, archers, and cavalry. Early assaults failed. A rumour that William was dead ran through his line; he lifted his helmet and showed his face. Feigned retreats then broke the English discipline. Men left the wall to chase, and were cut down below. Gyrth and Leofwine fell. Late in the day Harold fell — an arrow in the tradition of the Bayeux Tapestry, four knights in an early Norman account, perhaps both. Command died with him. William had three horses killed under him and still kept a combined force in hand. That, more than any single shaft, decided England.

Hastings did not hand him the island. The Witan named the boy Edgar the Ætheling. William marched on London, took the city’s submission, and was crowned at Westminster on Christmas Day 1066. The rest was enforcement. Castles. A new aristocracy. A remade church. The Harrying of the North in 1069–70, famine used as policy. In 1086, Domesday: not a book of wonders, a ledger of who owned what and what it owed. English became the language of the yard; French the language of the hall. The split is still in the vocabulary — cow and swine on the farm, beef and pork on the table.

He did not die a hero’s death. By 1087 he was nearly sixty and hugely fat, more often in Normandy than in England. Philip of France mocked him as a man lying-in at Rouen. William burned Mantes for the insult. One account says the pommel of the saddle burst his belly when the horse stumbled in the wreckage. Another says heat and exhaustion simply finished him. He was carried to the priory of Saint-Gervais outside Rouen and spent five weeks dying: gifts to churches, prisoners freed, the succession divided like a farm.

Robert Curthose, the eldest son he had fought and never trusted, received Normandy. William Rufus received England. Henry received money. The two halves of the conquest were at war within a year. Children fought because the father would not, or could not, leave one heir both crowns.

Even the burial was a judgment. Attendants stripped the death chamber and left the king nearly naked on the floor. A country knight named Herluin paid to take the body to Caen, to the abbey William had founded. Fire met the bier. At the grave a man claimed the ground under the church had been stolen from his father. The coffin was too small. They forced the bloated corpse in; Orderic says the bowels burst and incense could not hide it. The clergy hurried the rest and left.

William still lies at Saint-Étienne in Caen, in a tomb later wars smashed. He had won the contest of 1066. He could not command his own funeral, or keep his sons from inheriting his method: take what you can hold, and hold it against your own blood. That is the culture he left, and the dispute.

Propaganda does not need proof.
It needs a truth the other side already half-believes.

Propaganda does not need proof. It needs a truth the other side already half-believes.

Caesar understood that. After Pharsalus he did not dedicate his temple to Venus Victrix, the obvious winner-goddess of a civil-war battlefield. He dedicated it to Venus Genetrix — Mother Venus, ancestress of Aeneas and therefore of the Julian house. The vow had been made when he was outnumbered. The dedication was made on the last day of a quadruple triumph. The opposition could sneer at the genealogy. They could not sneer at the victory. That is the whole trick: wrap the claim you want believed around a fact nobody can deny.

On that same late-September calendar, in 1087, a younger son was crowned at Westminster. William Rufus took England; Robert Curthose took Normandy. The Conqueror’s settlement was itself a piece of family propaganda — loyalty rewarded, primogeniture quietly set aside. Rufus held the island for thirteen years until a forest arrow ended the argument. Younger sons who win still need a story that makes the win look legitimate.

Drake’s story in 1580 is the same pattern in oak and silver. The Golden Hind crawled into Plymouth on 26 September after nearly three years. Magellan’s men had circled the world and buried their captain. Drake came home alive, the hold packed with Spanish metal, Chinese ware and cloves. Spain called it piracy. England called it a national triumph. Elizabeth took her cut and knighted him. The unanswerable fact was the ship in the harbour. Everything else — Protestant destiny, English sea-right, the humiliation of Philip — hung from that hull.

A century later the same week produced two sermons in stone and money. On 26 September 1687 a Venetian mortar found the Ottoman powder stored in the Parthenon. A building that had been temple, church and mosque for two millennia became a ruin in an afternoon. Morosini then tried to lift sculpture and dropped it. Later restorers fitted the pieces wrong. The explosion is not in dispute. What you say it means — Christian recovery, Ottoman barbarism, the cost of using a masterpiece as a magazine — is propaganda built on a crater.

That same late September, Amsterdam’s city council voted money for William of Orange’s descent on England. France had seized Dutch ships; that much was public. The vote mattered because Amsterdam held Holland’s purse. William landed in November. James fled. The Glorious Revolution acquired its adjective afterwards. The loan came first.

In 1777 Howe walked into Philadelphia on 26 September after Brandywine. Congress had already run to Lancaster and then York. Washington failed at Germantown and froze at Valley Forge while the British sat in the rebel capital. They left the next June, after France entered the war. Occupation is a fact. “The rebellion is finished” was the sentence the occupation was meant to carry. It did not survive the winter.

On 24 September 1789 Washington sent the Senate the first working map of the American executive and judiciary: Jefferson for State (still in France), Jay for the Chief Justiceship, Osgood for the post, Randolph for Attorney General. Hamilton was already at Treasury. The Judiciary Act passed the same day. Republics, too, need a founding tableau — not a myth of blood, but a slate of offices that looks inevitable once it exists.

A week either side of that date in 1792, Marc-David Lasource told the new Convention that Robespierre wanted a dictatorship. Robespierre answered that he practised only “the despotism of opinion.” Both men were using the same fact: Robespierre’s hold on the Jacobins was real. Lasource made it a crime. Robespierre made it virtue. A year later Lasource went to the guillotine with the Girondins. The accusation had been propaganda. The scaffold was not.

The method does not change. Name the goddess mother, not victor. Crown the second son and call it the Conqueror’s will. Point to the ship, the crater, the occupied city, the signed commission, the dangerous man in the club. Leave the other side to deny the meaning while they cannot deny the event. That is why these late-September days still argue. The stones, the hulls and the appointments are still there. The story nailed to them is what men fight over.

The Press. They built the scaffold
Now they are standing on it, pointing at the carpenter.

They built the scaffold. Now they are standing on it, pointing at the carpenter.

There is no serious dispute about the first term. Prominent American media did not merely cover Donald Trump. They campaigned. “Russia collusion” was the product: Steele’s dossier, Fusion’s clients, Crossfire Hurricane opened without evidence of a conspiracy, FISA built on material the Bureau never corroborated. Durham later said the quiet part in official prose. The newsrooms that sold it as Watergate II did not wait for that report. They had a story that fitted the need. They ran it.

That is the original sin. Everything since is sequel.

In the second year of the second term the White House has ended a privilege, not a right. CNN, MS NOW and Politico can still publish, still interview, still stand on the pavement and call it journalism. What they lost is the desk, the hard pass, the pretence that a 92-percent-negative shop is a neutral utility the executive must house. Vance said it plainly: special access is not the First Amendment. The outlets answered with a lawsuit and the word “ban,” because “we lost the office” does not raise money. Their remaining readers will believe them. That audience was never the country. It was the parish.

The same week, the Washington Post put anonymous officials on a claim that the Pentagon was hiding American dead in the Iran war to protect Pete Hegseth. Hegseth called it a lie. Combat deaths are not a rounding error you bury in a database. If the numbers are wrong, say so with names and next of kin, not a smear dressed as casualty accounting. Using the fallen as a lever against a cabinet officer is not watchdog work. It is the old habit: wound the administration first, verify later, if at all.

Late-night television told on itself. The hosts who treated opposition as a format ran at a loss until the companies noticed. When the act stopped paying, the act ended. That was not censorship. That was a market discovering that partisan monologue is a niche, not a public utility.

Ukraine was never only a European war in the American press. In 2019 it was an instrument. A presidential call, a leaker, a theory that the issue was the asking rather than the facts asked about. Hunter Biden’s Burisma seat was real. The press knew enough to be careful and chose volume instead. They made a song and dance of process so they would not have to sit with the substance. First-term media used Kyiv to raise a president. Second-term policy is the hangover: Biden left a war wired to keep going — money, munitions, and a settlement so costly that Washington will not simply walk the minerals and the lab footprint to Moscow. Trump cut the gift economy. He has not cut the American interest. That is not betrayal of Ukraine. It is the end of writing blank cheques while calling the signer a traitor for noticing the bill.

Venezuela is the tell. Term one: a predatory petro-state, Cuban security architecture, Chinese and Russian leases on the ground. Term two: Maduro in a New York cell, the machine still in Caracas, oil terms rewritten toward the United States. The press discovered “corruption” at the exact moment American reserves and American companies entered the picture. They will concede Havana ran the security state. They will not concede that filling a depleted Strategic Petroleum Reserve from a hemisphere we just opened is preferable to leaving the barrels in Beijing’s and Moscow’s column. It was never about Venezuelan democracy for them. It was about who sits on the crude.

Iran was supposed to be Venezuela at scale: cut the head, force the apparatus, move on. It is not. The war is in month seven. A June memorandum died on the water in Hormuz. Khamenei is gone; the system is not. Russia and China have every reason to keep a wounded theocracy breathing, the way Europe has every reason to keep Ukraine in ammunition. The mullahs can read a calendar. Survive to the midterms, hope a weakened Washington blinks. Trump says a deal after November, or annihilation if there is none. That is a president talking in two registers at once. The press hears only the register that fits the frame.

And that is the point they will not admit. They are not inserting themselves to explain the administration. They are inserting themselves to replace it — commentary as policy, framing as fact, access as birthright. When the access goes, they cry liberty. When the ratings go, they cry culture. When the dossier collapses, they cry that the question is rude.

A free press that reports what happened does not need a briefing-room lease. A partisan press that spent a decade calling the other side illegitimate should not be shocked when the other side stops subsidising the pulpit. They hoisted themselves. The rope was their own copy.
