Me: Such a posting still does not address the nature of my original statement of evidence of a person infected twice. I've posted several such links showing the efficacy of Ivermectin, or HCQ or ineffectiveness of masks etc and been 'fact checked' .. but ignoring the anti science movement consider the issue of showing a double infection. In some people the original infection may not be extinguished and shows itself at two distinct intervals. Cancer does that too. These studies are not definitive.
MD: For the purpose of your question, do you define a "double infection" as a reinfection with precisely the same variant? Or do you suppose that infection, say, with the Alpha variant followed by infection with the Omicron variant is also a case of "reinfection"? My sense is that reinfection with the same strain is unlikely, at least while antibodies are still present, and subsequent infection with new strains depends in a complicated way on how well the antibodies for the previous infection attach to the new strain of virus. It's not necessarily a symmetric thing, either, since prior infection with Delta doesn't seem to prevent mild symptomatic infection with Omicron, but infection with Omicron does seem to prevent infection with Delta. That is one reason why Delta is forced out as Omicron spreads.
Me: Antecedent virus is displaced by the next generation is my call. Personally I'm upset at the emphasis being to prevent transmission at the denial of treating the sick. From personal experience I got Omicron over the New Year break and could not get tested or treated for what I had thought to be tonsillitis. Public holidays and then denial of access to GP's .. I finally just got some over the counter iodine gargle (wasn't allowed anything else) and it worked. That was how I knew it wasn't tonsillitis as tonsillitis is not cured with Iodine.
But the issue of reinfection is political, not science, which is why I come back to it. Your 'evidence' posting was a mistaken report that used words incorrectly. They had not found evidence of reinfection. They had suspicion of reinfection. Words matter. However, the idea of reinfection paralyses government policy bent on restricting transmission when all along they needed to be focused on treatment. Many people would be alive today had treatment not foundered under lockdown, had face masks not been inappropriately employed, Had vaccination not been the mandated defence.
